Hawaii Smokers Alliance
Committed to keeping you informed and empowered!
Pending legislation
There are several bills that deal with the smoking issue.

These are the bills we are in Strong Support of:

SB 2792  Exemption for a smoking licensed establishment

HB 3319  Exemption for a smoking lecensed establishment

SB 2478   Exemption for outdoor areas of restaurants

HB 3318  Exemption for outdoors areas of restaurants

HB 3320 Outside smoking at airport ok (Removes the Curb to Cabin rule)

These are the bills we Strongly Oppose:

SB 2408  Public Housing Smoking Ban

HB 2916  Jail Smoking Ban (Removes their built in exemption)

HB 2900  Tax Credit for past smoking bars that have been financially harmed by the ban.  (We will not trade our rights to freedom of choice for business owners for a few tax credits, we are in favor of this bill only if it is contigent upon passage of Sb2792 or HB 3319)

HB 2305 Beach and Park Smoking Ban

HB 1644 Beach and Park Smoking Ban

HB 1458  Beach and Park Smoking Ban

HB 1825 Beach only smoking ban

We are marginally in opposition to the following bills:

HB2025  Flavored tobacco  (Chewing tobacco and mint flavored cigarettes should be exempt)

SB 1169  Flavored Tobacco

Sb 2105 Flavored Tobacco

HB 2059 Fire Safe Cigarettes (This should be mandatory for wholesalers to bring them in, but optional for consumers to purchase)

HB 527  unattended Machines -Sale to minor's-  (Lunch Wagons should be exempt, they have a person attending the customer, it is their responsibility to enforce the current law against selling tobacco to minors)
